WenWen

Wen Wen Restaurant — Merch Design

The Wen-Wen Platter
Featuring WenWen's Kitchen's iconic "brined deboned soy milk" chicken, brought to life through a range of illustration styles. I designed the character around two things that both reflect the same spirit: the "BDSM Chicken" attitude — confident, a little wicked, fully aware of itself — and the hand-drawn "文文" calligraphy, loose and expressive rather than typeset.

Together they set the tone for everything: heavy-lidded, sly, strutting across its red jacquard plate like it owns the room. Red carries real cultural weight here, not just decoration — in Taiwanese tradition it means luck, so it should always feel earned.

The illustration system runs from full color for hero moments, to single-color red line for merch, to outline only for quieter use — fewer colors as the application shrinks. Non-negotiables: stay on the red plate, keep the linework dense enough to feel crispy, and let those heavy, knowing eyes carry the personality.
